Enifer’s first 3,000-ton PEKILO® production facility is beginning to take shape, with ramp-up planned for early 2026. As announced in August 2024, the factory is being built as a brownfield project within an existing industrial building in Kantvik, Kirkkonummi, Finland.

With procurement and detailed & civil engineering successfully completed, the next exciting phase includes the arrival and instrallation of major equipment. One of which is the 150m³ fermentor that was successfully installed a few weeks ago, marking a major milestone in bringing sustainable mycoprotein to scale.

The fermentor will be the heart of the PEKILO® process, being home to the cultivation that turns industry by-products into nutritious protein. The bioreactor, measuring 14,5 Meters high, was comissioned from Tankki Oy and its installation marks a vital step towards bringing PEKILO® production to industrial scale.

We’re entering a truly exciting phase of construction, as major equipment are finding their place and the plant begins to take shape. From the beginning, this has been an ambitious project with tight timelines, and seeing it come together is a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved. Watching our vision turn into reality is incredibly rewarding“, says Simo Ellilä, Enifer’s CEO and Co-founder

Once operational, the Kantvik factory will produce about 500kg or nutritious mycoprotein in an hour. The production of PEKILO® mycoprotein has a low carbon footprint and requires minimal land and water, making it a very sustainable alternative to animal and plant proteins.
